Maybe, but if you play a lot of games you'll want a PC for hardware reasons. I mean I think it will help some people switch to a Mac, but I don't think it's going to change the computing landscape the way articles I have read are talking about.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is a really cool idea:

New Human-Test: KittenAuth

Say goodbye to annoying "are you a human being?" human-checkers that make you decipher cryptic fonts on cryptic backgrounds. And say hello to kittens! Its a win-win situation. Out with the annoying and in with the cute!

Scroll down to see kittens. To prove you're a human, you have to select the three kittens in a 3 x 3 grid.

So, we got rid of digital cable. I know! I know! Crazy tv addicts like us, giving up cable! It's insane. Funny what being poor, unemployed college students will do to you and your values.

Anyway, I'm on the lookout for a good, cheap universal remote, 'cause we'd been using the one from the cable company...and evil people took it back! Something I can order online would be preferred, since there aren't really any easy access electronic stores around.

It just needs to run the tv, DVD player and VCR. We're pretty easy.

I like the $5.00 universal remote that GE sells. Don't know the model number offhand.

vw bug, I was looking around and I do have an RCA model that isn't being used (same model as in link, only backlit) because I switched to the URC 6131 for Tivo functionality.

You would have to consult the online user's manual for the codes, since I don't know where I put the booklet, but if you want it, it's yours. It's in great shape and was only used for a few months.

Oh, thank you so much HiddenSky! Unfortunately, that remote doesn't control the DVD player, and since that's the one remote that we actually don't have...

Thank you, though.

It does have a DVD button (it's a combined DVD/AUX) or do you mean you've tried a similar remote before and it's incompatible with your DVD player?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Your Mac Mini may already be a PC: [link]

I'd agree that that for the same form factor, the Mini is price competitive. But if the form factor isn't important, you can get a far more powerful PC with a much faster processor, more memory, and much more hard drive space. I can't see a reason for Apple to release OSX for PCs though. A good part of what makes Macs special is the hardware/OS integration. If OSX has to support all the variations in the PC world then it detract from the user experience.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

On one of the Mac sites I was recommending last week, there's a really good essay explaining why Apple is not going to make Mac OS X available to other manufacturer's PCs.
