I am now imagining a scifi story where aliens arrive on earth millions of years after the extinction of Man, and this is the only human artifact they discover.
The ironic part of the story is how humankind was destored by rampaging Mindstorm Lego(tm) robots.

But whats the point of having LEGO robots if you can't teach them to build replicas of themselves?
Has anyone tried out Songbird yet? I've read about it a couple of places today, but the site is overloaded and all I can get to is the mirror download sites. It looks very appealing from what I've been able to read.
What's the current thinking on leaving film in checked luggage versus taking it in your carry-on?

I keep film in carryon. You will know what scans it goes through and can get stuff manually inspected based on that knowledge.

From the comments, it appears to be in early beta, with lots of bugs and crashes. It seems like the only advantage it has over iTunes right now is that you'll be able to connect to different stores (not just Apple's). But it doesn't yet synch with iPods so you'll still need to use iTunes for that. As someone who buys very little music online, I don't see the appeal. But I could see using it in the future if the open source architecture brings forth other iTunes-killing advantages.

I've been meaning to do that when I have money.
I also had an idea for putting a color TV with remote control into one of my Mac Plus machines...
TiVo users! This application rocks: >[link]
I love that program. I used to do the conversion manually using a different process but I discovered DSD when I had to wipe my hard drive and I lost the tools I was using for the conversion. It's a whole lot easier and faster, too.
