It may sound that way but Jobs will only get something like a 12 percent share of Disney. While this is large, it is very far from a controlling share.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
So the only changes may be that all the sportcasters on ESPN start wearing black turtlenecks?
The rumble that I've been hearing locally is that Jobs may actually end up as the Chairman of Disney's Board. Nothing confirmed yet but THAT would be quite a power position.
Getting back to le nubian's question the other day:
is there an easier way to enter URLs for podcasts if you want to listen to them through Tivo? it is a pain in the ass to enter it in character by character through the remote.
I just installed Galleon [link] -- It's an open source media server for TiVo. There are a bunch of apps you can run on it, but the relevant one here is a podcasting app that puts TiVo's built in app to shame. You can enter the URL on your PC and save it as a subscription, then listen on your TiVo. Unlike the TiVo app, you can pause, fast-forward, rewind, etc. There's a videocasting app as well, but I haven't tried it.
Jon,
that sounds very useful. I'll have to try it out.

One news report said that he will be the largest single stockholder, (even at the aforementioned percentage? We'll see.)
I guess we'll just have to wait.
Yes, at that percentage he will be the largest single stockholder. He will just be very far from holding a controlling share. Two very different things.
indeed.
I wonder if we'll be seeing some Disney movies in the iTunes store....
I'd say we will. Iger has made it one of his personal missions to patch up the rift Eisner caused between Apple and Disney.
