And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

(And back to the keyboard, since posting on a phone is difficult and annoying.)

The site loads *much* faster through the Google interface than it does by entering the URL directly -- all the styling information is stripped out, and you have the option to not display images. (Making the main difficulty the fact that I normally read 50 posts per page -- on a phone, that's a LOT of scrolling. But changing it to 5 worked like a dream.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'll have to play with this later - and maybe hook up my Wacom tablet....

Search By Drawing: Meet Retrievr & Search By Sketch Demos From Purdue & Princeton

First discovered by Tara (and also blogged by Barry, Philipp, and John) is an experimental search tool called retrievr that allows the user to find related Flickr images by drawing a sketch. Barry writes that it doesn't work too well while Philipp is more postitive. Tara notes it works well for browsing.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make torrents download a leetle faster? I use Azureus.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Erin,

I've found in the "Options" Connections tab, change the incoming TCP/UDP listen port to something outside of the default range. Many sharers don't use those ports becaue those are the base ones the MPAA/RIAA/Etc. check.

I set it for a random number between 40000 and 65550, but I don't think that's based on any really good reason. I've used my zipcode.

There is also an Azeurus WIKI with tips beyond and maybe contradicting my own: [link]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My Tungsten T5 case just broke. The spindle that you slide into the left side of the PDA has disappeared.

It's a good case, but before I replaced it with an identical one, I was wondering--what sorts of cases do you guys use for your PDAs? Hard, soft, what?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I *love* bellagio cases. Love them. I just got a Palm Lifedrive and am using the Palm case for that, but I loved my Bellagio case for the T/C

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

On the subject of cases-- ita and other Razr owners, what kind do you use for your phone? Mine came without one, and I need to get one.
