Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Our wings are not tired

Who knows if they'll do it again, but if it comes up I'm going to jump on it. I know at the time it cost me about $399 for the new box, but with the transferred service it was worth every penny. I got the offer through their email list within a few months of the Series 2 coming out. I've had this box for at least 3 years, so it was a while back.

My old original Tivo is even still working. I gave it to my folks after I upgraded.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I just put a new hard drive in my Tivo though. Hmm. I guess I'd just HAVE to have 2 Tivos in the home...

If I only had a brain...

ND, if they do let you transfer, please let us know ASAP.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

How slow is slow?

At least a second to advance to the next alphabetical band. Which, if you have a full 60GB iPod, and you want to listen to uhhh... Sonic Youth, can take forever. You can plan ahead and create playlists of what you want to listen to, but that requires planning ahead.

I was in a car last night that had an audio-in jack in its stereo which seemed...well, better than nothing.

Get a bracket for the iPod, and it's great.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I usually work by playlist, so that wouldn't be the biggest deal for me--but it is annoying.

They need to have a CD-quality jack, and a nice applicable iPod (or whatever works for each MP3 player) cable. Very civilised.

Huh.

Chrysler and Apple announce iPod integration.

Selfishly I don't mind that people are going iPod (although I'm unlikely to get a Beemer or a Chrysler), but I think it should be about as much integration as possible with as many units.

eta: But I would like an Acura someday...

ITA. (I think all cars should have auxilliary audio-in jacks, and third-party mounting brackets to fit a variety of players, like they have for cell phones.)

Coding and Sleeping

I'd like a USB port. Actually there is a car radio that has an USB port, but no factory units yet.

What they really need is a short-range wireless standard that is adequate for audio streaming so the car can play any compatible player that is in the cabin. Like phones with bluetooth.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Which car stereo has a USB port, Gud? That would be handy for us. And we don't have iPods, but we do have aux players, so it would be nice to be able to plug into an eighth inch jack for the laptop or the player or whatever. And we're Napster, so we're unlikely to go to iPod, even when we replace our current mp3 player. Yeah, a wireless solution would be nice.

The Optimus LCD keyboard is supposedly being released in February. The product page says it will cost "less than a mobile phone" which isn't terribly helpful since mobile phones can be awfully expensive.
