I've seen that happen to Powerbooks that are set to the network time server option and then for some reason lose the connection to the server. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem consistently, but it's happened to me often enough that I'm fairly sure it's related. Perhaps if the powerbook finds a wireless network that's available but which will not allow it to connect to the time server it gets confused. This could happen quite easily in something like an airport where there are plenty of wireless access points that want you to pay before they allow a real internet connection. If the powerbook is cold booted under these conditions it may be what causes the date to go haywire.

TinyURL Creator has been updated to 1.0.1 for Firefox 1.5+, at [link] (mozmonkey.com).
If it doesn't say 1.0.1 in the list, refresh your browser, you're being cached somewhere.
Sue, my understanding is "not particularly"
Thanks Debet. I told her not to worry, but I think her last laptop was downed by a barrage of viruses, so she's worried.
New Unpatched Security Flaw in I.E. for windows (yawn). Switch to FireFox or Opera already. Use I.E. only for windows update and trusted sites that work only with I.E.
The other happy-making bit about maintenance, for me, was that I don't have to defrag.
It is my understanding (Alert: further bluetooth adventures attempt to continue) that to set up my PC as an access point for the internet (so I can get out onto the net via bluetooth from my PDA), I need to go into the properties of the LAN card and tell it to share. But I can't! My advanced tab doesn't have that option. The advanced tab for the 1394 net adapter does, but isn't that firewire?
What sort of things cause network sharing to be so unavailable? I don't want to run the connection wizard, because I'm sure that'll just break something else that works fine now.
Also, can I set my Mac up to be an access point instead?
The advanced tab for the 1394 net adapter does, but isn't that firewire?
Yes.
Sorry - can't help you with the rest.
I decided to try the wizard. And it told me an error occured during configuration, and nothing else. It did turn firewalling on, but still no sharing option, dammit.
Over the last 48 hours I have used my Treo to:
- Make several phone calls
- Store the contact information for the pizza place across the street, for easy pre-ordering speed
- Add several tutoring sessions to my calendar
- Send many text messages
- Take a picture of the snow and christmas lights on the Columbia campus and send it to my parents
- Read Pride and Prejudice
- Listen to music - specifically, the Wicked and Avenue Q soundtracks
- Record my weight and reps for an upper body workout in a spreadsheet
It did all of this so well that I am amazed. It is my new favorite device ever - sorry, old 30 GB iPod that I no longer have, you did not have the advantage of always being in my pocket no matter what.
I am sad that the next Treo will be Windows Mobile.
