You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Did we know this? [link] The MPAA is planning to sue to shut down torrent tracking sites.

Hmm. Looks like people will go back to IRC and other more covert methods of distributing the files. Cause the thing is, all you need is the file itself, right? You don't have to have a webpage that hosts it...

The way bittorrent works, somewhat counterintuitively, the more people who are trying to download the file, the faster the downloads will go.

So no web links = fewer people downloading = less practical.

Okay, that's true.

Art Crawl!!!

Well, apparently, I hadn't watched "Beauty and the Beasts" from my Buffy season 3 dvd set before last night-- because I discovered a bobble on the dvd.

It looks like a smudge -- is that a scratch in dvds? Does this mean that this dvd is completely screwed?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Well, I wonder if the movies can be removed from such BT sites and leave the TV links.

Our wings are not tired

Yeah, but they are getting nasty about the TV stuff too, since they see it as a loss of future DVD sales.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

not hardly. These asswipes. If they produce DVDs that are high quality with extras, I most certainly will buy those above the crappy versions of what I have at home. I don't download tv shows to subvert a process, but if they schedule shows I want to see against each other - I can only watch/tape 2 programs. I have to BT the 3rd if I want to see a show before it is cancelled ("House", I'm talking to you).

It's the same argument the industry had against VCRs 2 decades ago. Did that destroy the industry? Not hardly.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can see HBO et al protecting their assets, but North Shore? Gimme a break. They should pay me to do what I'm now doing for free.
