The search for the perfect Flash MP3 player is winding to a close...but now that I've seen this, I'm sorely tempted: [link]

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I think the Sony mp3 players look cool. Dunno much about them though (except they finally ditched their stupid propriatary file format/DRM scheme).
I kinda figured that was coming when they announced that the next Treo would run Windows Mobile.
I guess it's time to start saving to upgrade to a new PDA phone next year. I'd love to cling to the Treo 650, but I've played with one too many abandoned OSes over the years and my experience is that it's best to just see the writing on the wall and move on.
I've had a Palm since the original Palm Pilot.
Then again, I also had a Newton 2000 and 2100.
Huh. Guess I'll wait to get a new PDA then.

Yeah, I was just thinking good thing I realized I was short of cash before jumping on the TX.
I DON'T WANT TO RUN WINDOWS MOBILE.
Don't wanna.
What ita said.
What alternatives are there? How many Linux PDAs are there?
There are a few Linux ones out there, but they aren't doing well. Palm really was the only other big player. There's even rumors that the Sidekick is going to roll over to Windows Mobile. Sharp was one of the big ones pushing Linux and from what I understand even they have given that up and are now on a Windows heading.
There's the Symbian OS, but I've never found it very usable. I'll be looking as well and hope to find an alternative.
