Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Ahem, it's Mr. Freak thank you.
There's a DVD stuck in my Powerbook, and I can't get it out. Hitting the eject button tells me it's ejecting a Quicktime clip that's on the desktop. The computer doesn't seem to recognize that there's a DVD in the drive at all. Shutting down doesn't work.
I know there are tricks for forcing this thing to eject the disc, but I don't know what they are.
Hold down the mouse button while powering it on.
Forceps?
Hold down the mouse button while powering it on.
When I do this, I can hear a click, but nothing's coming out.
I also tried the first hint on this page, but "eject cd" just told me "ok" (without doing anything).
I even tried putting another DVD in the slot, on the off chance that the person who told me there was a DVD stuck in there was wrong, but there's definitely SOMETHING in there.
You've cycled the power, I take it? That usually resets the drive eject mechanism, but apparently not, in this case.
I think so, but I'll try leaving it off for longer this time. This will be about the millionth time this has been tried, though.
[yeah, I can hear it clicking, but nothing comes out. There's some kind of alignment problem.]
(Okay, screw this. I'm emailing our Apple account rep and making an Apple Store appointment.)
Have you ever tried a little eyesocket?
Of course I've had it in the ear before.
