So, how was your summer? Mine was fun. Saw some fish. Went mad with hunger. Hallucinated a whole bunch.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Is it okay to write labels on a CD with a Sharpie?

Yes. I think a Sharpie (or similar) is the only writing utensil that is OK to use.

Mercy is the mark of a great man. [beat] Guess I'm just a good man. [beat] I'm alright.

Drawing pens work for writing on CDs, too.

Our wings are not tired

There are some that will argue that specifically Sharpies are not good for CD's. The claim is that something about their particular ink is corrosive. However, I've been using Sharpies on CD's for more than 10 years now with no problems that I can trace to them.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Excellent.

hip deep in pie

The best pens for writing on CDs, from a preservation standpoint, are ones with solvent-free ink. But no one has actually studied the effects of markers on CDs.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Has digital killed Advantix (google seems to think I want to know about flea medication, so I suspect the answer is yes)?

I was going through my rolls of film, and I found a couple where the indicators on the bottom had moved to 2 -- does that mean the film has been loaded into a camera, though nothing was exposed (which'd be 3)? I need to know if I should toss them, since my Advantix camera broke quite a while ago, and I don't see myself getting another one.

If I only had a brain...

Aww. My TiVo sent me mail, including its best regards.

TiVo - Your Bedroom DVR to betsyp

Your online request for "The Flight That Fought Back" has been received.

This program is now scheduled to record and appears in the To Do List.

Best regards,
TiVo

I think it should have said "love", though. Does our relationship mean so little to it?

Betsy, your TiVo sends you email?? Do they all do that? Dang, if it talks to me, I might have to get one. There ought to be someone in this apartment who talks to me.

(I live alone; I'm not complaining about my SO or anything. But the plush animals are awfully quiet.)

If I only had a brain...

If you hook your TiVo into the Internet, you can then use the TiVo website to schedule recordings. One of the options when you schedule recordings is to have your TiVo confirm the schedule by E-mail.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I still need to hook my tivo into my internet. It's just one of those things that I think may take some effort (like reading the manual) that I feel too lazy to do.
