Aww. My TiVo sent me mail, including its best regards.
TiVo - Your Bedroom DVR to betsyp
Your online request for "The Flight That Fought Back" has been received.
This program is now scheduled to record and appears in the To Do List.
Best regards,
TiVo
I think it should have said "love", though. Does our relationship mean so little to it?
Betsy, your TiVo sends you email?? Do they all do that? Dang, if it talks to me, I might have to get one. There ought to be someone in this apartment who talks to me.
(I live alone; I'm not complaining about my SO or anything. But the plush animals are awfully quiet.)
If you hook your TiVo into the Internet, you can then use the TiVo website to schedule recordings. One of the options when you schedule recordings is to have your TiVo confirm the schedule by E-mail.
I still need to hook my tivo into my internet. It's just one of those things that I think may take some effort (like reading the manual) that I feel too lazy to do.

You have to buy external hardware, too.
Ah. That decreases the chances that it will ever get done even further.
You can do the shopping online. The rest of it involves the getting up.
That does help, because of the no need to interact with people thing, but I would still need to read the instructions and convince the cats that I am not playing hide and go-seek or Whee! let's chase the cables with them.
I think you should come visit instead.

Think of it as an investment in sloth. I've been known to schedule a recording over the internet from my home computer, which is approximately 2 feet from my sofa, which faces the television.
Dude, you're bad. I admit, I have the TiVo widget on my Powerbook, and I'll use that (while facing the TV) to see what's on the TiVo, but ... now that you mention it, that's kinda handy.
Perkins, what's in it for me?
