I am off to lunch in downtown Evanston.
There is a Mac store a block from the restaurant I'm going to. Do you suppose they'll have the Nano in stock yet?
eta: Although I really should buy a new 60 Gig iPod instead. Will common sense prevail?

You'll be even more amazed when you hold it. It's really hard to believe how small it is.
I think Friday is the earliest it will be in a lot of Apple stores.
tommyrot, common sense says you should buy both. By that definition, it should prevail.

I stopped at a Mac store and asked. They told me the Nanos would start "trickling out" (eta: in one to three days) and that the store would have some "early next week." (This is an independent store.) When I came in they were on the phone with Apple, placing their initial order. Both the folks in the store and at Apple were amused that a customer was already asking about the Nano.

You'd think that an Apple store, of all places, would be used to slavish, fervent adoration and obsession.
I'm telling myself that I'm going to be good and wait until I can get the educational discount. I'm also telling myself, "yeah, right, like that's gonna last".

Yeah, I'd think so too. Maybe it's because this store tends to have older small business owners and the like for customers. Despite its proximity to Northwestern, I don't see a lot of younger trendy types there.
