Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I stopped at a Mac store and asked. They told me the Nanos would start "trickling out" (eta: in one to three days) and that the store would have some "early next week." (This is an independent store.) When I came in they were on the phone with Apple, placing their initial order. Both the folks in the store and at Apple were amused that a customer was already asking about the Nano.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

You'd think that an Apple store, of all places, would be used to slavish, fervent adoration and obsession.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I'm telling myself that I'm going to be good and wait until I can get the educational discount. I'm also telling myself, "yeah, right, like that's gonna last".

Yeah, I'd think so too. Maybe it's because this store tends to have older small business owners and the like for customers. Despite its proximity to Northwestern, I don't see a lot of younger trendy types there.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Do we have a pool on who will be the first to acquire? I think I vote Scola.

Probably. But only because I'm sure I'll be too lazy to drag my ass to Michigan Ave. Saturday morning before they sell out....

Our wings are not tired

I'm really trying to tell myself that I don't need one. I also did just buy a car, so hopefully I can stave off iPod lust.

All is well that ends in pizza.

My mother's laptop, which is pretty close to being her link to sanity as she sits in a hotel room in Baton Rouge, has started spontaneously shutting off. Anyone have a guess what might be happening? My first thought is overheating -- could that happen if she's just sitting at a desk, using it?

My first thought is a trojan or adware. If she has Adaware and Spybot, make sure she updates them and runs them. If she has not these things, download, update and run.

There are a couple of other good ones, but the cats are begging for food and I can't think.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I have a 1st generation, 5GB iPod. I really can't justify buying something with less capacity. Maybe they'll bump it up to 8GB in due course.

Also, iTunes V5? Uuugggleeee.
