Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A car where the designers go, "Wouldn't it be cool if a car had this, that and the other thing?" And then they build a car like that and take it to auto shows to gauge interest in the various features, as well as the car's styling. A concept car would typically come way before the actual prototype.

If I had known when I posted that it was a concept car, I probably wouldn't have posted. Most concept cars (and their concepts) don't see the light of day.

eta: Concept cars are often not even drivable.

eta² The Volkswagen New Beetle started out as a concept car to demonstrate a car powered by a fuel cell. The retro-styling came almost as an afterthought. But the styling of the car received such a positive reaction that they decided to produce it as a regular, gas-powered car. But stuff like that rarely happens.

Ahhh, thanks.

Our wings are not tired

The Dodge Viper, and Plymouth Prowler made the transition from Concept Car to Production almost unchanged.

Yeah, they are among the few that I can think of that did that. Maybe the PT Cruiser too?

The Chevy SST I think it's called. It's the newish compact pickup with the chopped lines. It also came almost directly from concept.

There's been a move in the past 10 years to do it. The original F150 lightning was also a concept that moved into production as well as the GMC Cyclone in the 90's.

What?

Me? A car nut?

The SSR? The little pickup that's a convertible?

I think that it.

That's a really cool truck. I was surprised to find out it wasn't selling as good as they expected.

I'm just bummed that this concept car will probably never be produced:

I was surprised to find out it wasn't selling as good as they expected.

I first saw it on the road and was all, "WHAT IS THAT?" Then I was driving by a Chevy dealership and it was in the window. I had to stop and go look at it. I was completely in love with it but the base price was way over my head. It started a good 14k above what the Beetle cost me out the door.
