A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I have the same router as Jessica and it's been reliable with my computers and the TiVo. Well, until the big lightning storm a couple of weeks ago when my entire network got fried....

But I bought another of the same router because of it's reliability.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I've had luck with both Linksys and DLink.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I've got a Dlink and ithas worked well for me.

In FRIED COMPUTER news, I remembered last night that I already had a spare hard drive on this computer. I've now installed XP on the drive, after disconnecting the infected drive from the IDE chain.

I've already downloaded and run the sasser fix from Symantec, and found this drive to be uninfected. Some time this weekend, I will reconnect the infected drive and try to recover it.

Our wings are not tired

I've got Apple, Linksys, Netgear, and Dlink routers. At the moment all of them are 802.11g and they all work great.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have a Belkin router, and it works great.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

LeN, haave you tried the transfer to TiVo yet? I'm not sure if I'll be bothering to prep files for transfer, but I discovered a cool thing! All the shows I offloaded to my computer are now accessible again! My network connection is wireless, so it's not quite streaming, but still. Nifty as all hell.

Funny you should ask me this. I'm just going to try it right now. I just got the software upgrade. The above, is cool. I'm going to see if this is true!

ita!

That is a really cool thing. I'm amped because I archived some Tivo files to another hard disk and brought them over and now I can see them on the Tivo.

I didn't realize that I'd have to "transfer" them to the Tivo though. It really is time for me to get another hard disk. After I get paid at the end of the month, I am going to do this.

I converted a file to .mpg (a Bill Maher HBO special) and it plays just fine on the Tivo so far (only about 19 minutes has transferred over).

I haven't decided if I'm going to convert some media files, just burn them to DVD or what.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I already have an extra disc for my TiVo, but I've gotten into the habit of keeping seasons of shows on it. Which is silly.

I have an assload transferred off, mostly waiting to be burnt to DVD. Now I know I can tidy the TiVo even more, and still be not that far away from being able to watch them anyway (and it keeps the show description info -- how neat!).

TiVo chief exec talks about DIRECTV. I did not know this:

DirecTV, which accounts for about two-thirds of TiVo's distribution, announced that it would stop marketing TiVo to its customers (although it will be available to those who request it)
