"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Has anyone else had a problem with their iPod's clickwheel ceasing to, you know, work?

It still clicks but won't spin.

Hey. New board.

Sounds like the touch-sensitive capacitor thingy may have died on you, Lilty. Since the buttons on the clickwheel are physical, they will continue to click when that happens.

My suggestion is take it to an Apple Store if you have one handy. If you've under warranty (do you have AppleCare on your iPod? Cuz you should get it if you don't and it's not too late. That goes for everybody.) they should replace it or repair it as necessary.

I don't have AppleCare, but I do have the protection plan from Best Buy, so that should cover it. It was sort of going gradually- it was getting hard to scroll, and I thought maybe it was just the cover I had getting sticky or something. But I took it off today and it was clean and all good, and now there is no scrolling at all.

Poor Wesley.

Thrive to spite them

My browser is doing weird things.

I just downloaded Yahoo Instant Messenger.

Right after that I can't keep two browser windows open. When I go to click the IE icon or right click a link and pick "open in a new window" the current window closes and a new one opens.

I have Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft XP.

Your tag here.

I have Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft XP.

There's your problem... Ok, that wasn't helpful. Offhand, I'd recommend rebooting. If that doesn't help, try getting all of the critical updates from Windows Update and see if that gets IE to behave.

If that doesn't solve the issue, maybe now is the time to switch to Firefox. It's quite painless and your Internet experience will be much improved.

Our wings are not tired

So far the Harmony remote is very cool. I'm having some issues with the macro programming and dealing with my TV, but I think I'll be able to work them out. It mostly has to do with fine tuning the delays between activities. My plasma TV is touchy about getting too many remote commands right after it is turned on.

Thrive to spite them

I rebooted and the problem still exists. I thought I had stayed on top of all the updates.

I downloaded Firefox and I'm using that.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about GoDaddy.com? FAQ Wife wants to register a domain and they've got a good deal.

Punishingly Intricate

I'm such an idiot at this. But I set up my iBook and set up the cable internet and set up the wireless stuff (with many calls to Apple and to Comcast and to Apple and ... so on) and I can't get the computer to connect anywhere except downstairs about 5 feet from the Airport thingy.

Apple can't give me any real advice about what to do. I already exchanged the Airport (they couldn't figure out if the original one I had didn't really work or not) and at least it works at all now (it connected once and then not again with the first one). But, you know, I'd really like to be able to use the stupid thing while I'm sitting up in my room!

am very frustrated. and hating of the computers.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I can't get the computer to connect anywhere except downstairs about 5 feet from the Airport thingy.

I would try to connect to some other wireless network and see if the same problem occurs. If not, then the problem is probably your wireless router or some sort of interference.
