"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

This is a real shot in the dark, but has anyone encountered a problem with the last few builds of AIM freezing with certain screennames?

I have one AOL based sn, and two AIM-only ones. When I got my new computer in April and downloaded whatever the latest AIM build was at the time, I noticed one of my AIM sn's would always freeze the application whenever I tried to send a message. The problem only occurred with that particular sn. To prove it, if I was signed on under multiple sn's with the linking feature, the other accounts could message as usual but AIM froze as soon as I tried sending from the problem sn. Third party clients like Trillian have no trouble, and I've rolled back AIM to an earlier version, which works fine. (The reason I ask now is because I tried the latest upgrade tonight, and it caused the problem yet again.) Something's causing the last few builds to hiccup when I use that sn, but I can't figure it out.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Good article by Philip Greenspun on digital SLRs.

So, I'm preparing to buy an iPod. First step, downloading iTunes. Is it everything and a piece of cheese? Can I get rid of my Musicmatch Jukebox? Will it burn CDs for me?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I'd say yes, but you might as well hold on to Musicmatch Jukebox for awhile until you're sure that iTunes does everything you need.

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

I've found iTunes much more user-friendly than MusicMatch, but I'd agree it doesn't hurt to hold on to it for a bit to see.

I just plugged in River the Shuffle, and I'm taking her out for her first voyage.

Cool.

I was ready to go over to the Univeristy computer store and buy an iPod today, but they are on order.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I have a stupid question that I just want backup on.

I use Filemaker Pro.

My boss just said to someone "we use what we like to call databases" made in Filemaker Pro.

But they are databases, right-- tables, cells, etc....?

It really annoyed me.

They are definitely databases Sophia.

And I think we've already established the asshatedness of your boss.

All is well that ends in pizza.

From his wording, it sounds like he's not really sure, like the word databases should have air quotes.

Was he talking to someone time traveling from the past, or maybe an alien?
