So, I'm preparing to buy an iPod. First step, downloading iTunes. Is it everything and a piece of cheese? Can I get rid of my Musicmatch Jukebox? Will it burn CDs for me?

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I'd say yes, but you might as well hold on to Musicmatch Jukebox for awhile until you're sure that iTunes does everything you need.
I've found iTunes much more user-friendly than MusicMatch, but I'd agree it doesn't hurt to hold on to it for a bit to see.
I just plugged in River the Shuffle, and I'm taking her out for her first voyage.

I was ready to go over to the Univeristy computer store and buy an iPod today, but they are on order.
I have a stupid question that I just want backup on.
I use Filemaker Pro.
My boss just said to someone "we use what we like to call databases" made in Filemaker Pro.
But they are databases, right-- tables, cells, etc....?
It really annoyed me.
They are definitely databases Sophia.
And I think we've already established the asshatedness of your boss.
From his wording, it sounds like he's not really sure, like the word databases should have air quotes.
Was he talking to someone time traveling from the past, or maybe an alien?

Exactly. Like that. I occasionally see that sort of weirdness. People taking ownership of certain common words or phrases like they were the originator of the word, name or thought.
