"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So...I got a wireless USB adapter from Amazon, connected it to my Tivo and all is right in the universe. I cannot believe how easy it was. Glad I made sure this adapter works with the Tivo before I bought it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

And at some point I'll probably have to figure out how to sync my Clie's calendar/contacts/etc. (I was using Agendus, which has both PC and PalmOS versions, but nothing for Mac.)

Jessica, I've been using PocketQuicken (Landware.com) to sync my CliƩ with Quicken (on my WinME laptop) for several years now. I like it a lot. However, I'm pretty sure it requires the official Palm Desktop hotsync manager app., and it sounds like you don't have the Mac version of that.

eta: the link above says an alternative to Palm's Hotsync is The Missing Sync.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, Tivo to Go...

I am having a couple of issues with it and I'd like buffistas to weigh in.

1) The picture is narrow and not good quality when I watch a program back

2) Is it possible to convert the files to .avi or .mpeg? This service is no good to me if I can't find a free way to arrange my own library.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Posting in the 1% chance that someone knows this....

Anyway, our WiFi in the hotel is fucked, in that we can't use it in our rooms. Oddly, there is a strong signal in the rooms, but DHCP doesn't seem to work there - I get an IP address from the client, not from the DHCP server. I get no gateway or DNS servers, and the nonsensical netmask of 255.255.0.0.

Other places, the signal is weaker, but DHCP works and we can connect to the internet with no some problems....

All is well that ends in pizza.

Can you try a manual setting, making the settings found in the other room static? Or a similar IP number?

Or at least add the gateway/DNS/router/netmask from the settings in the other room?

Our wings are not tired

I've tried manual settings in the rooms that are based on the settings that get pulled down when this machine can connect, but no luck in the rooms.

Duh, yeah I should have mentioned that we tried that....

I wonder if there's some WiFi / DHCP diagnostic thingie....

Sounds like the hotel has multiple wifi routers, and they might need to have someone reset the one nearest you...

I know it's a dumb question, but have you reported it to the management?
