All is well that ends in pizza.

I'm looking for a used PC laptop that I can use for taking the bar exam. (The software they use won't work with my Powerbook.)

Could always get Virtual PC...

hi tech-heads

Have any Mac users upgraded to iTunes 4.8 and had trouble with iTunes recognizing your iPod?

I am using OS 10.3.9/iTunes 4.8 with a 4G iPod photo. Just wondering if I am the only one having this issue. Thanks.

cereal:

A quick skim through the apple discussion forums shows that there a lot of other problems folks are having with 4.8. (Not being able to buy music from the apple store, not getting radio stations that used to work on 4.7, not being able to convert at 192 kbps - it auto. resets to 128 apparently, etc.) Screw that. I am going back to 4.7 and waiting a week or so for apple to work on the bugs (which is what I should have done in the first place).

Trust my rage

I thought about that but the software's webpage says it's a specific violation of the license to install it on a Mac. I have no idea why, but I want to avoid any problems on test day.

Weird. And? Annoying.

move out and draw fire

Thanks, DCJ, that's what I thought. I was hoping there was a way, so that I don't have to deal with exchanging the modem. I'm not sure my Greek is good enough for that!

One would think all broadband modems would have ethernet. Weird.

Yep.

Tina, have you checked Macfixit.com?

Macfixit.com

Thanks, steph. I looked around a bit there and some of the same problems are being noted with 4.8 that I have had and seen mentioned elsewhere. I went ahead and reloaded 4.8 anyway and it is getting along with the iPod for now. I am keeping 4.7 though, just in case.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No advice on the phone thing? I almost went ahead and bought one with an answering machine (it's the Costco thing -- they don't always have exactly what you want, but there's the overwhelming feeling it's a good deal, so you should do it anyway). Except I want voice mail, and I really doubt any of those will tell me that I have Verizon messages waiting. So no dice.

I did browse their printers, since I was there, and wondered -- anyone familiar with printable CD/DVD technology? Is it better/cheaper than labels? Also, are bluetooth printers a missed fad? Would I be better served with a wireless ethernet external print server? I am tempted by the Apple thingummy that also serves iTunes, but mostly idly for now. Either way, there's no space for my printer within cable-easy distance of my PC.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

When I got Verizon voicemail, they sent me a caller ID box and that's what blinked when I had a new message. Don't know if that helps.

Edit: Except I'm a liar and never had Verizon voicemail anyway. I had AT&T.
