Our wings are not tired

I've had issues with less than 1 GB on Panther, mainly when running multiple apps. I start to see the color wheel with far too much regularity. If history holds true, this will only be worse in Tiger.

An average session for me has the following open:

Safari, Firefox, iChat, iTunes, Preview, Word, Excel, Mail, iCal, MSN Messenger, YahooIM, ICQ.

Often also open will be iPhoto, XJournal, and Filemaker.

There's a noticeable difference between 768 MB and 1 GB on my Dual 1 GHz G4, and on my 1.33 GHz PB.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So where does one go to get the RAM once one has one's powerbook?

eta: Also, is there a Mac equivalent of Trillian?

In the past I've gone to Crucial.com or to OWComputing.com for my memory.

Yes, it's called Fire, but I didn't like the interface last time I tried it.

Not yet! I have so much to learn.

Thanks, ND.

Everything I know, I learned from MacWorld magazine (and its Web site), and the macosx and macintosh LJ communities. There's also a powerbooks LJ community, but I haven't ventured in there, so I don't know how good it is.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Is LJ broken for anyone else?

Looks like the price difference between +512MB and +1GB nowadays is only $140 ($119.99 vs $255.99 at crucial.com), so I'd go with ND on the +1GB recommendation.

In fact, it might be time for a memory upgrade for me!

All is well that ends in pizza.

Check out [link] (dealram.com) for comparisons and pricing, too.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

I just learned of this msyelf and thought I'd share with everyone.

KDX by Haxial Software [link]

While KDX works very well over the Internet, it also works very well on a LAN (local area network). KDX does not require an Internet connection, and is thus suitable for use on an internal company LAN, and for home or small business networking.

eta: Doesn't work with Win95/98/ME
