I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I was told you could purchase AppleCare at any point. Like if your computer breaks, you can purchase AppleCare at that point and get it fixed. Am I wrong?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

That Tom's Hardware link was interesting. I had no idea that DVI monitors / graphics cards were so complex

Hey. New board.

Yes, Gloomcookie, you are wrong. They will only let you purchase AppleCare within the 1-year warranty period.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Speaking of AppleCare, I'm posting from my BRAND SPANKING NEW iBOOK!!!!!! It's shiny and beautiful and I love it.

However, I use OS 9.1 at work (don't ask), so OS X, while easy to navigate, is confusing as hell right now. I imagine it'll all make sense quickly.

And I'm somehow ganking the wireless connection of someone in my building. Is that wrong? I was ready to install my DSL drivers, when AirPort popped up and told me I was connected, and lo and behold -- I am. Neato cool-o!

This is so great! Everything works on it! The screen stands up BY ITSELF! The CD drive actually acknowledges when I put a CD in it! All the keys work! I have more than 500 MB of hard drive space!

I do need to max out the RAM, though. At 256 MB of RAM, it's fine, don't get me wrong, but knowing that I can add another 1 GB of RAM is making me drool just thinking about how fast this thing could go.

I need a name for it. Though I *still* haven't named my car yet.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I named my iBook "Pale Lady" because it seduced me cruelly.

I just installed 512 megs of memory, so it's up in the 700s now. Noticeably faster.

What version of the ATI Radeon driver are you using, Tommyrot?

I can't find info on the ATI driver, and there's no "ATI Displays control pannel" either.

Under "system profiler" sez the graphics card ROM version is "113-xxxxx-116"

I don't understand the "Extensions" thing, but the only ATI* Extension that is loaded is ATIRadeon8500 version 1.3.38 12/6/04. There's not even an unloaded ATI Radeon 9200 extension thingie.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

tommy, I'm a Radeon 9200 girl myself.

Huh.

In related news, the red specks flying from right to left are now gone. They've been replaced by green specks.

Also, I've downloaded the "ATI Displays control pannel" application.

eta: OK, the specks are red again.

eta²: crap. I can't mount the image for the "ATI Displays control pannel" as I get an invalid checksum.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I'm thinking about doing an iPod car integration for my GF for her birthday but I have no idea a) what it should reasonably cost b) the best way to do it (she's a tech geek and I wouldn't want to do it too cheaply cause that'd ruin it for her). Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

ita linked to this [link] a couple of months ago, and I think Rio got one and likes it.

Does anyone here do work using Javascript on XML?

eta: I'm good for now. I was using

xmlFilter.childNodes(i).getAttributes("s")

instead of

xmlFilter.childNodes(i).getAttribute("s")

Dunno how I got that extra 's' in there....
