Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What version of the ATI Radeon driver are you using, Tommyrot?

I can't find info on the ATI driver, and there's no "ATI Displays control pannel" either.

Under "system profiler" sez the graphics card ROM version is "113-xxxxx-116"

I don't understand the "Extensions" thing, but the only ATI* Extension that is loaded is ATIRadeon8500 version 1.3.38 12/6/04. There's not even an unloaded ATI Radeon 9200 extension thingie.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

tommy, I'm a Radeon 9200 girl myself.

Huh.

In related news, the red specks flying from right to left are now gone. They've been replaced by green specks.

Also, I've downloaded the "ATI Displays control pannel" application.

eta: OK, the specks are red again.

eta²: crap. I can't mount the image for the "ATI Displays control pannel" as I get an invalid checksum.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I'm thinking about doing an iPod car integration for my GF for her birthday but I have no idea a) what it should reasonably cost b) the best way to do it (she's a tech geek and I wouldn't want to do it too cheaply cause that'd ruin it for her). Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

ita linked to this [link] a couple of months ago, and I think Rio got one and likes it.

Does anyone here do work using Javascript on XML?

eta: I'm good for now. I was using

xmlFilter.childNodes(i).getAttributes("s")

instead of

xmlFilter.childNodes(i).getAttribute("s")

Dunno how I got that extra 's' in there....

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Re: Qwest DSL

Just found out, Best Buy is going to start selling an Actiontec modem next week. Just the same as the one Qwest sends out, with a couple of exceptions:

No wireless $69.95 (but there are 2 different rebates, a $65 from Best Buy and a $5 from Actiontec, making it only cost, basically, the tax.)

All is well that ends in pizza.

Sounds like I should wait a week....

Yeah, if you don't need the wireless, get a free modem instead. But remember to place the order thru me for the service.

:)

Trust my rage

Just got a warning in the mail that the warranty on my Powerbook is about to be over, and did I want to buy the extra two years of AppleCare?

Not sure how helpful this is, but I just got AppleCare for my Powerbook. I got in just before the one year deadline. I had a problem with the screen on my last powerbook, but I didn't have AppleCare. It worked out okay for me that time, but convinced me to be sure to buy it in the future. My brother, who is a university IT guy, always recommends AppleCare for laptops since they get carried around so much.

As a student, I think I got it somewhere around the price ND got.
