Oh, yeah. There was this time I was pinned down by this guy that played left tackle for varsity... Well, at least he used to before he was a vampire... Anyway, he had this really, really thick neck, and all I had was a little, little Exact-O knife ... You're not loving this story.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

lt's not speedy, but it works. My new Tungsten connects to the web through my cellphone.

That Bluetooth works. But my PC can't see any of its services, although it sees the device.

Graffiti 2 will take some getting used to. "K" is hard.

eta: If anyone can remind me how to have my PC (XP) set up so that I don't hate to tell it in advance to receive Bluetooth transmissions, that'd be great. It used to be that way, and I can't find anywhere to switch it back on.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for Mac OS X

Lets you control an XP machine on your network from your Mac running OSX 10.2.8 or later.

Suspiciously free.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Ooh cool! That means I can do work from my iBook....

Wait, maybe that's not cool.

(Which I've added to the post, above, making this one redundant.)

Question for those with the 17" Powerbook -- is it too wide to use on a plane in economy class?

Hmmm, don't have one, but here are the specs for size, it might help for the visualization:

17-inch model

  • Height: 1.0 inch (2.6 cm)
  • Width: 15.4 inches (39.2 cm)
  • Depth: 10.2 inches (25.9 cm)

I'm okay with visualising the laptop (I was at the Apple store yesterday). It' been longer since I've been in a plane, though. You wouldn't happen to have standard widths of the trays, would you?

Mostly lurking...

ita, I found this:

From an article on the Powerbook laptop computer: "Despite its admirable design and plethora of features, the new PowerBook's dimensions can be inconvenient. It swallows nearly all of a coach airline tray table, about 16.5 by 10.5 inches."

Therefore, the consensus appears to be around 16.5" wide by 9.5-10.5" deep. The exact dimensions will, understandably, vary by airline.

Oh, thanks, vw. Nearly all I can live with. It's not like I was ever using the rest of the space with a laptop open anyway.

Our wings are not tired

I've used mine on airlines. It's workable until the person in front of me decides to lean their chair back, then there's not enough space for the screen.
