Yes. Men like sports. Men watch the action movie, they eat of the beef, and enjoy to look at the bosoms. A thousand years of avenging our wrongs and that's all you've learned?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

People are finding all sorts of uses for the Mini-Mac: [link]

Because the Mini measures only 6.5 inches square and is 2 inches high, Underwriters can cram a standard server rack with three times as many minis as full-size servers.

"Size is a huge advantage," said Patrick Dayton, a senior project manager at Underwriters. "By taking into consideration remote power, we can get approximately 100 units in a single cage, as opposed to 30."

...

"When I saw the mini -- the dimensions and the specs -- I thought, this is perfect for the car," said Benzaquen. "I'd be surprised if Apple didn't think of installing it in a car, it's so perfect.... You don't have to do anything except mount it and plug it in. It even has voice-recognition built in. It's almost too easy."

Smart playlists stay smart on the iPod. Try making one that uses play count or rating and you can see that it is still smart. You can also see how much slower an iPod is than a desktop computer.

Is this a recent update?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Try making one that uses play count or rating and you can see that it is still smart.

Really? Oh, cool. Most of mine are driven by ratings "Play everything by artist prince with rating over two stars" or "Play everything with year between 1980 and 1999 with rating over two stars" and I manically rate on the fly.

Is this a recent update?

I can't remember when it happened, perhaps as late as the Mini, but I think earlier.

OMG, there actually is a smartplaylists.com

I remember there being a debate about whether or not iPods have live updating- I believe the conclusion of that discussion was that they do, but it is sometimes constricted when playlists use each other (which is all of my playlists...)

eta: This is cool - I've wanted this for a while now: [link]

This script will collect the "one-hit wonders" in your iTunes or iPod library—every track whose artist is represented by just a single track—and copy them to their own playlist on the respective Source.

Applescript, so won't work for you PC folks....

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Anybody out there in Macland using OpenOffice? I'm having severe problems getting it to run -- the "Open OpenOffice.org" starter doesn't work, and when I follow the instructions to open a terminal window (or an X.11 window), it tells me that it doesn't recognize "setenv", and then I'm pretty much Alice in Unixland, lost without a paddle.

Trust my rage

thanks, tommy, that was cool. I've always wondered what was the big deal with that script thing.

Theodosia, I have OO on both my Macs without any problems. What version of OS X are you using? What version of X11? Are you using Apple's version of X11, or Xfree86?

I'm using the latest versions of everything, and Apple's version of X11.

Do you have the instructions on how to launch OO when the Open OpenOffice.org program doesn't work? Can you post them here? Else I'll try to find the instructions later....

All is well that ends in pizza.

Wasn't someone just asking about network storage?

Argosy network hard drive enclosure for $84** - 7:27 am
The Argosy HD-363N 3.5-inch IDE to RJ45 Networkable Hard Drive Enclosure costs $84 plus $1 shipping at PC Micro Store. It's the lowest price we've seen. This Simple NAS (network attached storage) enclosure allows a hard drive to be directly connected to an Ethernet network. A CAT5 cable is included.
