And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's on the front page of apple.com, too. It's the most adorable computer I've ever seen!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, god, that shuffle is ... something I don't need, but want quite a bit.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

It's cheap, but they're selling it without a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Buyers are going to feel like they're being nickeled and dimed, which is something I often feel when I'm dealing with Apple.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

So cute!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I totally want one... except I just bought my Cube for about the same $. The Cube, while not as cute, looks cooler IMHO. Mine has far more RAM and HD space, but a much slower G4 processor (450 Mhz as opposed to 1.42GHz).

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yup.

Here's the info page from apple.com: [link]

Almost makes me want to convert to MAC. Almost.

iPod shuffle notes:

    • Music capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128Kbps AAC encoding.
    • Do not eat iPod shuffle.
    • Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. See www.apple.com/batteries for more information.
    • Some computers require either the optional iPod shuffle Dock or a USB cable extender (sold separately).

Well, I think the idea is that someone who has an iPod and a PC will want to try a Mac out at that price. So they can use their existing monitor. If they don't have an extra keyboard and mouse they could buy something cheap. So I don't think the lack of monitor, keyboard and mouse is going to be an issue for most buyers.

eta: Plus, having both VGA and DVI output is cool at that price....

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Do not eat iPod shuffle.

Well, SCREW that.

Unsurprisingly, the Apple Store site is exceedingly sloooooooooooow to load. Heh.
