Woe to the fucking wicked.

If Catwoman hadn't sucked, I think people would have had no problem with Halle Berry in the part. Although she may be in that "Black but it doesn't really count" category for the movie-going public.

GT would be nifty, IMO

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

GT has all the right connections for the part, too--Whedon, Silverman--and a LOT of people have been talking her up for it. Fingers crossed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have a historical beef, but she wasn't good as Jinx or Storm either, so I'm not even sure why they went for her as Catwoman. Maybe they've noticed a pattern by now.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I was about to say -- I have an objection to Halle Berry as Wonder Woman, but it's got nothing to do with race. I just think she really sucks as an actress.

My objection to Berry as Wonder Woman comes down to one salient fact--I don't care if Wonder Woman is white or black, but she SHOULDN'T be a skinny little rail. She needs to be solid and statuesque. Berry's too small, and SMG is out of the question.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

But if the latter is flexible enough, she has the right coloring to play Wonder Woman's magic lasso.

Did anyone publicly object to Berry as Catwomen due to her race? I'd have thought Eartha Kitt would have settled any question of that decades ago—I still think of her rather than Newmar, Meriweather, or even Pfeiffer in the role.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I don't think Berry had any objections, but I've never seen a Black Wonder Woman before.

I think, Halle-as-actress objections aside, the biggest ruckus was over the fact that the character in the movie bore no relationship to anything remotely connected with the character. I mean Tim Burton took a lot of liberties with the characters vs. the comics, but not to that level.

Yeah, but it's not like it's a character that's been played a lot--Linda Carter, sure, but not much beyond the old TV show.

They cast a black Wonder Woman, I sincerely doubt there'll be a ruckus, so long as it's a good actress (like Torres) and a team people are excited about (like Whedon and Silverman.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Torres would rock. She's got the build and the right sort of feel for the part.

I don't think I saw any complaints. I've seen a couple of stupid complaints re: Fantastic Four casting, but I think those were all from the losers at the John Byrne board, or from Byrne himself.
