And that key opens an impenetrable briefcase. And the contents of that case are important enough for them to endure this hellish process, which involves gagging, maggots, and a startling betrayal that the island gods want to keep hush-hush for now.
I guess the impenetrable thing makes the axe not work. Maybe it contains some GPS type equipment. Weaponry? Drugs?
Startling betrayal is always good.
It is so fun to actual sub to this thread. I avoided spoilers on the ME shows. This show particularly lends itself to the seeking of spoils in the quest to solve the many mysteries.
Pancakes:
Best guess is that the scene comes in Episode 1.12 titled
Whatever the Case May Be
Some attache cases are rigged to explode if someone tries to cut or break them open. I'd have someone I didn't like swing the axe at it.
Do you think Sawyer would be less likely to swing the axe if he knew it was a potentially explosive device, or more likely? I'm thinking more.
(laughing) hmm. depends on his mood I guess. His survival instincts might have come back in the last few days.
Ummmm, am I a dummy, or wasn't there a whole episode built around the reason they needed to burn the bodies rather than bury them? I.e. island critters of the carnivorous sort would just dig the bodies up and tear off chunks and cart them off into the fricken jungle?
It would serve Dr. Jack right if the key he needs is somewhere in the small intestines of a jackal or a cougar or a vulture on the other side of the island.
I imagine one body stashed somewhere in the jungle is considerably less dangerous than around a hundred bodies out in the open on the beach though. Also, I'm willing to cut Jack a little slack considering he'd just performed his first mercy killing (apparently WITH HIS BARE HANDS! WTF?!?) and was already well into the sleep deprivation/PTSD episode that sent him giggling through the jungle to go Extreme Cliff Diving and following the trail of Drusilla's doll collection.
jessica,
your spoilers were the BEST. I cannot get anything nearly as good on any other site.
Totally nothing to do with
Lost.
I was googling for more information on Tim's upcoming series,
The Inside,
when I came across a Herc piece updating us on the whereabouts of the ME writing staff alum [link] He mentions Ben Edlund is writing an episode of Marti's new series. His episode is entitled, "Who's Your Daddy," which cracked me up 10 ways to Sunday, since Ben is a MA native. Just thought I'd share. The above-linked page includes a recap about the current show affiliations of folks like Goddard, DeKnight, Fury, Smith, Craft and Fein, and all the rest. Most of it was known to me, but still useful to have it all on one page.
