Spoilers 3: First Mutant Enemy, Now the World
[NAFDA] Spoilers for any and all currently running TV shows. All hardcore spoilage, all the time. No white font.
What I was wondering, how did you feel about the Starbuck reveal at the end? Might they edit that out before it airs? It just seems so fake to me.
The whole last sequence is pretty surreal, so that moment doesn't stand out as "fake" in context. I really doubt they'll cut it.
Personally I liked it because it's what I'd been assuming happened to Kara all along - I didn't buy her being dead dead for a second, not with all that buildup to Kara Thrace's Special Destiny.
Thanks sooooo much for the spoilers, you don't know how much stress you've taken off of me by confirming Kara's return.
I have a question, if you don't mind. What do you remember about the L/D breakup? Do we see them breakup, or do we just hear from one of them later that they did? Did Dee say she wants a divorce, or just does what she did in TAB where she walks out and sort of waits for him to come make it right?
Does this happen in CRI or II?
Again, thanks so much! You are so my supplier now!

We see her packing her things and moving out -- I doubt there was time for an official divorce, but it's clear we're supposed to assume the marriage is over. (Of course, that was also the implication about his military career a few scenes before, and he was back in the flight suit less than an hour later, so who knows what they'll decide to do with them in S4. Personally I really don't want to see any kind of drawn-out reconcilliation subplot, because Lee/Dee is SO FRACKING DULL.)
It did occur to me at the time that, really, HE should be the one moving out, since as a civilian, those are no longer his quarters.
Does this happen in CRI or II?
I really wish I could remember! We watched them back to back, and I didn't realize they weren't airing as a two-hour block until much later. I think it's in the beginning of part 2, but don't hold me to that.
Thank you so much. I agree, L/D is like watching paint dry, only way more painful. Like when you're waiting in line at the DMV and you're so bored and anxious to be ANYWHERE else that it physically HURTS.
Technically they would both need to move out. If they are no longer married they do not require married quarters and would go back to the bunkroom. Though if Lee stays resigned, he won't be able to live in the bunkroom.
So if that's the case, either he will be allowed to stay in his quarters at Adama's permission (and his own choice), or be moved to smaller guest quarters, or he'll leave Galactica. I really hope he at least stays on Galactica.
I'm betting with Kara back and the fleet now focusing on finding earth and all the new things that happened in the finale, he'll not have much time for a law career. Either we'll see him re-up in the military, or he'll stay on as a consultant or something. My thoughts, anyway.
- Does Snoopy Dance over Dee packing up and moving out*
Lee/Dee is SO FRACKING DULL
People whose names rhyme should not be married anyway. Do you see me married to somebody named Slutty? No!
No, but I totally could. And you'd have to bring him around your Yankee family, and do a lot of explaining and campaigning, all the while there'd be a little voice inside your head, whispering, "Cheetahs on a squash court. Cheetahs on a squash court."
Slutty,heh.
Yeah, the rhyme-iness always bugged the crap out of me.
I just can't believe they let this go on for a whole season. Most boring plot device EVER.
I think they are intentionally setting it up to make it look like Kara is the final cylon, but she's a red herring. She shows up alive, in the middle of a cylon attack, when four of the five have just been revealed to us. I think Ron wants the audience freaking out all summer (and fall!) that "OMG Kara's a cylon!!!" That way we'll be more shocked when we find out it's Dee.
Ron said on Skiffy that he has very specific plans for Dualla next year. I'm thinking that it's funny how each of the four revealed cylons (with the exception of Chief, who is close in his own way with all of LKAR) is sort of the right hand of an LKAR member.
Tigh=Adama
Tori= Roslin
Sam=Kara
Dee=Lee?
Though I don't know why she wouldn't have been activated with the other four, and why she chooses now to leave Lee if she was sent to watch him. (Even subconsciously.)
Maybe she is the only one of the five who is already activated, and didn't need to hear the music. Maybe she leaves Lee because, with him quitting the military and defending Baltar (and likely becoming an outcast himself, at least among the power elite) he's no longer in a position to be useful (or dangerous, however they are perceiving LKAR).
Maybe part of the mission of Dee and Sam was to keep L/K apart for some reason (like together they figure out how to delete the cylons or something) and now that Kara is "dead" she has no reason to stay with him.
I don't know, that sounds lame. Wow, it's gonna be a looooong time till January.
Hi Karie23. Welcome. What's LKAR?
Thanks very much!
LKAR is the dynamic between the four major characters, Lee/Kara/Adama/Roslin. The sort of "family unit" of the show.
Sorry, it's a very well known term on Skiffy, HD5 and the other BSG-centric boards. I sometimes forget other people stay away from the craziness (SKIFFY!!!)
It is firmly felt by many, myself included, that LKAR is the foundation of the show. With the exception of Baltar, who sort of works as the anti-LKAR, everything comes back around to these four people.
with Kara back
I wouldn't consider this set in stone either -- until we get confirmation that her ship shows up on everyone's dradis (not just Lee's), it's equally likely that she's a vision rather than a reincarnation.
