Pitcairn Islanders are well known, and mapped, and have irregular but real contact with the rest of the world. Enough so that I read a big expose about their intrafamilial problems (child abuse) in the New Yorker some time in the past 6 months. Anyway, I think it was the New Yorker. Anyway, if National Geographic comes knocking on a quasi-regular basis, then the likelihood of the 815 survivors being rescued is quite large.
Also, you know what? Pitcairn is a fairly distinctive island, geographically. And looks very little (so far) like the Lost island. Better it should be Pitcairn's Bastard (but quite far away) Twin Island.
Ha to the x-post!
t high-fives Nutty
We could start referring to the island as Pitcairn-dark.
Yo-ho-ho and a baggie of heroin!
There will be no yo-ho-hoing in the presence of Fletcher Christian.
(Who, if you'll recall, wasn't exactly a bastion of leadership. I think he survived less than two years on his chosen island, and his rule devolved into near-annihilating violence. By the end, IIRC, there was exactly one adult male left alive on the island.)
Well, I didn't mean the actual Pitcairn, it was a pitiful attempt at positing an AU Pitcairn. Sorry for not being clear, and thanks for the, um, being clear.
Yes, Pitcairn dark. Or two, or evil twin. Because the expectation has certainly been built that Black Rockians are eeeevil.

In this AU, the island has a beard.
Rousseau said, "Montand lost his arm." Or maybe it was Montain.
Oh yeah, that's what I forgot to say! I heard that and thought "Montaigne" - which sounded vaguely familiar as another philosopher's name. Ring any bells? Signed, too lazy to Google
ETA - that really is too lazy, even for me, so here.
So how many known wrecks do we actually have on the island?
Hmm.
1. Black Rock
2. Danielle's ship
3. The chock-full-o'-heroin plane
4. Flight 815
Am I missing any?
We don't know where the Adam and Eve came from. They could be some of Danielle's crewmates, or from the Black Rock. Or, they could be from an as of yet unknown wreck.
One ship off shore, one ship well inland, one Beech 18 in the jungle, and parts of flight 815 in at least three different places.
And all of those except Danielle's are period, right? So we don't really have any idea where Ethan came from? Because he's young enough to only be offspring or a more recent wreck. And I thought it funny that they didn't mention anything to Danielle about Ethan's death.
