"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And really, what's wrong with lines? Laugh lines, frown lines: they make a face look lived-in, like that person has been places and known things. Far better to look like a person than to look like a pod person.

I was wondering why they cast Adrienne Barbeau on Carnivale until I realized a big factor was that she both looked her age (50s) and looked good, and that was probably not all that common in Hollywood. All the other actors looked very period, and were purposefully cast that way. Adrienne still has 70s hair, but she never got the creepifying plastic surgery. And as it turns out, she was very good in the role too.

I can't see her name without hearing (the late, *sniff* ) Capt. Murphy talking about wanting to be "The Barbeau-bot". Heh.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

(the late, *sniff* ) Capt. Murphy

He's just off fighting the Great Spice Wars.

Speaking of Sealab, has there been any confirmation or refutation that they've ceased making new ones? It looked like a joke the first time they said it, but then they re-stated it more forcefully the week after.

Guy #1: Man, there are so many hipsters around. I hate hipsters! Guy #2: You're at the wrong place. That's like going to Vegas only to say "I hate titties!" --The Warsaw, Williamsburg (OINY)

Agree that this was a great, great episode. Definitely the best since Hurley's flashback ep. Loved: Sawyer. Jack trying not to cry during Sawyer's speech. Sun giving Jin the phonetic dictionary. Sun & Jin in general (but that goes without saying). The hilarious and realistic awkwardness of Michael and Sun's goodbye. Arzt & Hurley. Danielle & Locke (2getha4ever). Walt & Shannon - awwwww - the way MG's face contorted as she went through about 5 different emotions off Walt's speech about his Mom and Vincent. The creeeepy black smoke trail of death. The Black Rock - awesome! The scary yelping sounds Arzt was making when he was running away from the Lostzilla - it sounded like some kind of half-human, half-canine barking and I thought it was an Other.

Hated: Kate. Again. I so wanted Jack to tell her to fuck off when she insisted on tagging along to get the dynamite. Michelle Rodriguez - didn't hate but for some reason she struck me as extremely annoying. Something about her being so nosy and then pretending to be shy reminded me of Kate.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

arby is me. The Sawyer/Jack scene was the best! (I started crying. I know, I'm a dope.)

Cripes but this was a great episode. I guess that getting nearly all the emotional resolution out of the way means they can devote the final episodes to action-y plot stuff.

The Jack and Sawyer scene nearly broke me, seeing as how I was already vulnerable from Sawyer having his shirt off.

I'm a bit 'meh' on the pirate ship thing. It could turn out very, very badly, I think.

One thing I'd have loved to have seen was a Hurley/Rousseau reunion scene.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Mmmmm...yes.

(When he was standing there shirtless in the sun after bringing the new mast to the beach, I turned to DH and said "Thank goodness for baby oil smugglers.")

Herding cats for fun

The only thing that would have made Sawyer-Acts-Decent better would have been if he had been wearing his mismatched glasses.

Anxiously awaiting next week's episode. I think the raft will have to end up back at the island somehow. I wonder if Snicker Bitch will display any more humanoid emotions? I wonder if the Others are other castaways? I wonder how I will survive until Season Two?
