I think that on an episode-by-episode basis, the writing is actually pretty respectable. It's just over the season that it's not holding up. I mean, I don't spend a lot of time wincing at clunky dialog when I'm watching.
'Life of the Party'
Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Not being pretty, I'll take your word for the facts.
Fuck all that faux modesty!
I be pretty. Lost has lyrics. Maybe we are both easy.
Somebody announce the name of a series that was not cancelled soon after the first C&D came out of the lawyer's office.
What's a C&D?
Cease and Desist!
cease & desist order?
Thanks! I was so confused reading a few of those posts. Just out of curiousity - why did Buffy get a C&D?
Buffy didn't get a C&D but various sites started getting them.
If you remember Rayne's shooting script site, she got a C&D to shut it down.
It's a double edged sword. FOX has to exercise its rights over its properties in order to retain those rights. Obviously, from the amount of BtVS sites on the net posting screencaps and such, they don't go on rampages. They know that it's free publicity, though they have no control over the quality of the publicity.
I think they usually go after sites that just post hundreds of screencaps and little else, or spoiler sites.
FOX has to exercise its rights over its properties in order to retain those rights.
Not true for copyright, only true for trademark. Fox can let a million script sites flourish and still retain full rights to the work under Berne.
I do have some sympathy for them going after script sites, because those represent something they might genuinely want to sell in the future. Some of the attacks on sites for using lowres images just appear to be pissiness, though.
Allyson, you're chronically selling yourself short.......
ITA with ita.
(I have more thoughts, but they will have to wait, as the mind is still processing, and I have to go out).
