42 is also the number of Mulder's apartment. Which was, itself, an HGTTG shout out, I believe. But still, there could be layers. I expect if they were trying for an X-Files reference they'd work 1013 in there somewhere instead.

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Sean and I are obviously HGTTG junkies. I can't even see the number 42 without instantly thinking that.
HELLS yeah, baby!

I'm just quietly fearful that all the very cool interweaving subplots and mysterious might go that path, which would be a tragedy.
ETA: Oops! Sorry Jess, I didn't see that!
t hands Jess a towel
Jeez! I wish Jessica was around, I know she'd get the groovy HGTTG reference....
t runs away
hands Jess a towel
t knows where towel is
t ignores Sean
With "Walkabout", "Special" and "Numbers" under his belt, I think Fury can probably claim the mantle of best staff writer on the show.
Absolutely. Fury's been smokin' hot.
I am definitely in the Hurley Was A Psych Patient camp. Seemed obvious to me what with the references to what he put his mom through recently, and the doctor commenting on his not-so-closenss with Lenny.
Those numbers got the magic mojo and will obviously recur anytime numbers are needed as a plot point. We need to run that set by Nilly. Though I think it is pretty obvious now that the Mechasaur is in reality a monstrous sharp-toothed actuary.
Like, that was when she was supposed to leave Jin?
11:15. They should have made it 8:23 or something so that we could now go, "ooooh, see? It's all plaaaaaaned!" I suspect it was a giant asspull though. Would it if I were a fly in the wall when they were breaking this episode in the writers' room.
who's Rambaldi?
Some mystical magician dude from several centuries ago who may or may not be immortal over at that other J.J. show, Alias. He left a bunch of prophecies and scrolls and books and little toys that go boom. And maybe a dessicated heart. Trying to make any kind of sense about the whole nonsense gives you worse headache than trying to figure out the mytharc in X-Files. Nowadays, I just do a Pavlovian eyeroll whenever the name is mentioned on the show.
Probably an x-post.
I think that Lost won't have to go that route because unlike Alias they are pulling in a nice big audience. I believe that Alias has gone through a bunch of re-tooling in order to get non-obsessives to watch.

I don't understand the existence of people who don't think of that. Okay, me before I read the book. But still.
