Nah -- remember a few episodes ago (I can't remember specifically which one), when Charlie said *to Jack* that, of all the people on the island, Locke is the only one he'd trust with his life.

With "Walkabout", "Special" and "Numbers" under his belt, I think Fury can probably claim the mantle of best staff writer on the show.

Definitely. Those are three of my favorite episodes. I didn't love "Solitary" tons, but it was all right. My other favorite episodes are "Confidence Man" (Damon Lindelof) and "Raised by Another" (Lynne E. Litt). "Outlaws" (Drew Goddard) gets an honorable mention.

A friend who worked at a halfway house for Psych patients said they used to eat incredible amounts of sugary foods--like entire boxes of Captain Crunch amd Pepsi for breakfast and bags of circus peanuts and stuff like that.

My brother worked at the state hospital with addicts for many years and said that they were also very big with the sugar in recovery. Not that I think Hurley is a recovering addict. Really it was just the Mom's tone in mentioning he was gaining weight "again" that struck me.

I don't think this is really odd. We are used to animals that know we aren't predators; squirrels running around heedlessly, pigeons barely moving out of our way. You stomp through the woods in a more wild area, and you aren't going to see a lot of animals hanging around where you can see them. You'd probably hear quite a few birds, yes, but I don't think we really need to have them stuffing the soundtrack with bird calls.

I thought that animals unused to man as primary predator would be more likely to hang around a bit.

Animals have to get to the island, somehow, though. The boars must have been brought by prior residents or visitors. Which implies (to me) that there are probably rats about. I don't see a problem with there not being much else in the way of wildlife.
