Um, well, we listened to aggressively cheerful music sung by people chosen for their ability to dance. Then we ate cookie dough, and talked about boys.

I think he felt he was doing everything for her.

This is it. He could beat the ever-loving crap out of innocent people for her, but he couldn't forgive a lie? I know I'm supposed to feel sympathetic toward Jin, but I think maybe Sun is better off without him. She should totally go to Hurley for comfort. I'm just saying.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I didn't get the impression that he was leaving solely because she had betrayed him. I think that was part of it, but I think he was also realizing that he'd changed enough for her to want to betray him, and that he needed to not be around her if he wanted to change back.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

he really shouldn't have lied to her about what it entailed

I get that he was caught in a cascade of decisions, but the part where he doesn't tell his wife that her idolised father is a hood? I do get that.

The part where he feels betrayed and storms out? It's not like he divorced her, or anything. As things currently stand, him not being able to deal is one of the most human reactions he's had to relationship events since the plane crashed. If it's going to take him some time to deal with huge news ... is that such a big deal?

he has history of making bad choices.

Apparently, he's dumb enough to believe that the daughter of a wealthy Korean businessman speaks no English, so bad choices may come easily to him.

I guess we don't know how long their separation is going to last. It does seem to have been healthy for both of them though. Jin's getting involved now, and Sun's free to slut it up in any swimwear she wants. We're all winners.

Based on my own experience in Korea, fluent English-speaking is pretty much limited to people who have to deal directly with diplomats and the international business community. It's not automatically assumed that everyone's taken it as a second language. Americans in restaurants and hotels do a lot of pointing.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

We're all winners.

Well, except Michael. Who may have lost any chance with Sun now that he's revealed he's violent and quick to leap to judgement—two qualities that women fleeing from their Mafia Wife lives probably don't have on the checklist for prospective new boyfriends. Plus, his firebug kid burned up his boat.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

At the end, did anyone else get a vibe of Sun walking into the ocean and not coming back out? When I first saw her at the edge of the water at sunset, I was thinking that was what she was planning.

What I'm wondering is why people would have been eager to be the ones leaving on Michael's boat in the first place. My attitude would be: there's a good chance of it turning out like Gerricault's Raft of the Medusa , if it does work they'll be sending back rescuers anyway, and my odds of survival are better among 40 other castaways on dry land with abundant drinking water and only occasional attacks by large predators. Bon voyage!

She was the daughter of a wealthy Korean businessman when they met, and she spoke no English then. How dumb would that belief be, when correct?
