No studying? Damn! Next thing they'll tell me is I'll have to eat jelly doughnuts or sleep with a supermodel to get things done around here. I ask you, how much can one man give?

Thrive to spite them

I wonder if they shot all of stuff up to Jin going to see his father at the same time they shot Sun's episode. I wasn't paying attention but it didn't look like Jin had any stubble until closer to the end when he saw his father.

I keep wondering how they are going to deal with the men's facial hair in flashbacks. That and I want to know what will happen when they run out of paper/pens. It doesn't look like they are doing a lot of writing but it'll be a problem in the long term.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

I also noticed at one point in the bathroom when he's washing the blood off his hands - at one point he has blood on the right sleeve near the elbow. Another shot shows that the sleeve is clean.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It finally occurred to me why Jin went nuts on Michael's possessing of Sun's father's watch back in the early days of the season.

Oh crap! That was the watch! I'm dense.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Easy. I can make both paper and ink. I'm sure with all the plants on the island, plus things like worn-out, leftover clothing and upholstery fibers, others can do that, too. The hard part would be the screen material for papermaking, but I could probably improvise a finely woven plant fiber screen in a wood or bamboo frame. The other hard part would be pens. Quills require netting or shooting of birds for wing feathers, but I'd think empty ballpoint pens would work fairly well as dip pens.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I swear I thought you meant the writers at first.

Maybe because I'm not clear on what they [um, the characters] particularly need them for to begin with.

Hurley takes a census. Claire keeps a diary. Sawyer might want to pass Kate a love note during one of Jack's speeches. Sayid's supposed to be drawing a damn map of the island. Michael sketches his blueprints.

I thought he was using a pencil.

He still needs paper.

Eh, the diary's the only thing that would be particularly hard to accomplish with other means. I don't think any of it's likely to drain a handful of pens.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I wonder how hard it would be to make ink? There are some methods here, but they seem a little complex.
