I like the fact that, not only is he a murderer, he's an incompetent murderer.
Sawyer had been hunting the real Sawyer for years. If he knew Hibbs (?) rep I want to know why he just trusted the information that was given to him. Even if he didn't want to really check the info, I would at least check up on Hibbs' motives for handing that info over, especially because Sawyer doesn't seem like the person to trust anyone easily.
But people do odd things when they are close to a goal. I knew a woman in Boston who was hunting for her biological dad and she became convinced one guy was him because someone told her they heard he might have known her mom, plus when she drove by his house she realized she had dreamed about the house. This is a rational woman who had done years of research and pulling county files and all of that. I think she just wanted it to be true so badly so she could stop looking.
Sawyer killed Mr. Katimski! That is not woobiefipossible!
Sawyer killed Mr. Katimski!
hee! i yelled "Mr. Katimski!" when i saw him. i totally should have caught on that Frank wasn't the ladies man/con man that Hibbs had tried to convince Sawyer he was. i didn't get that it was a set-up until just before he shot him.
I was concerned for a while about the TwoP recaps, but Daniel seems to be shaping up a bit. His initial recaplet made me laugh for the first time:
Also, Kate continues to woo Jack, lest she be forced to survive on a desert island with only one man panting after her.
OMG, was it Katimski? I was so very certain at first, and then I got all doubtful and second-guessy about it when I saw him in a different light. I spent the whole episode desperately wanting him to wave his hands vaguely and say, "Oh, Enrique, that's just... oh... well, my gosh!" Just to settle the question once and for all.
(Because, you know, God forbid I go onto something like an official show site and check the name or anything sensible like that.)
If it was indeed Katimski, then Sawyer is SO UNREDEEMED. That one moment of anguish at the dumpster doesn't even begin to cover it.
You know, I still can't stand Sawyer and after the murder, I think I'm disliking him even more.
In contrast, I still very much like Jack. He acts like an asshole every now and then, but if I were stuck on an island with Sawyer, I think I'd be ticked with him too. Sayid barely tolerates Sawyer and Sayid is my boyfriend.
it totally was him, JZ. can't say it changed my Sawyer love though.
it's interesting to me which characters people like/dislike. me? i like sarcastic bastards.
I checked imdb. Teh Sawyer is beyond redemption.
Though I like Sawyer just fine as a character -- he's interesting, he moves the plots along, he has a twisty backstory and the other characters reveal new and interesting things about themselves every time they jostle up against him. Narratively, I'm all over Sawyer. I think Holloway is doing a fine job as an actor, and I give him big extra props for not holding back on Sawyer's jackholeness when he feels it's called for.
Personally, though, Sawyer skeeves me. I don't like him, I don't trust him not to dick me over for his own amusement if he sees the opportunity. Kate, by contrast, I also don't trust, but she strikes me as someone who's essentially Mostly Harmless if you don't trip her personal landmines, all of which are fairly clearly marked and easy enough to avoid -- if you cross her she'll take you down, but she won't take you down just for the hell of it/because you're boring her/because you're there and she has nothing better to do.
Also, I have the same reaction to Sawyer that Allyson does to hobbits: His hair is disturbing and I can tell just by looking that he smells funny.
Narratively, though, he's aces.
