Thrive to spite them

Didn't Locke say that they need four men? Or was that more of an insult to Charlie (I got distracted and missed that part).

I was surprised that Ethan got killed off, but surprised in a happy way and totally agree with Charlie that Ethan wouldn't have given up any info. Well...maybe if they started cutting off his fingers or something. But I don't think anyone but Locke is willing to go there, but I don't think Locke would see the advantage to turning into scary torture guy.

Boone is totally dedicated to the cult of Locke.

Shannon and Sayid!!! So cute, she was tending to him and the look on his face. I can't wait to see where they go with this.

Hurley was great, he's playing such a vital role in the community, although I think it might be overlooked.

They really don't have a leader as much as a shifting tribal council. The whole group needs to be in on what's going on because there are too many weird things that threaten them as a whole.

Punishingly Intricate

I loved the stupid fancy earrings Shannon was wearing. So useless and in character!

For some reason the Charlie flashbacks didn't bother me that much. I get the anvilness of them but they didn't bug nearly as much as the moth thing. Maybe I was just in an uncritical mood last night and happy to have the show back.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How much did I love Sawyer giving Kate a gun and forcing Jack to let her go with them?

This equals Spike throwing the knife to Buffy. I think we need a shot before the season is over of Sawyer tending to Kate's banged up hands.

I'm disturbed that they're playing Charlie's killing of Ethan as White Knight, instead of Poor Strategy and Self Indulgence. As ita notes, he had plenty of motive for his own sake.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If Spike had thrown it to her in front of Riley, maybe. I think his audience was very important to him.

3. Jack has zero interpersonal insight, doesn't he?

He really does, doesn't he?

If Spike had thrown it to her in front of Riley, maybe. I think [Sawyer's] audience was very important to him.

So, you're saying he did that more for the benefit of one of the other men, rather than for Kate's benefit?

One of the other men that may be named Jack. Not that it wasn't a good idea, but having a good idea, and a good idea involving Kate? In front of Jack? Worth Kate's weight in gold.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Absolutely. Doing it in front of Jack not only showed Kate that Sawyer considers her one of the "men," but that he thought of it first, and Jack didn't, and now Jack knows it.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Sayid was a stone hottie this week, with the rain and the weapons.

I just don't get it. Now, Naveen Andrews isn't in my category of "Dude, he's *ugly*; how can you like him?", which includes but is not limited to: Alan Cumming, Steve Buscemi, and Nathan Fillion.

He's just -- eh. Pretty eyes, though.

Jack = nonsexually attractive.

Sawyer = hot dirty mad island of mystery sexsexsex.

Locke = scary charismatic hothothot.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Did it bother anyone else that the guns were essentially useless to the plan? Locke didn't want to trail Ethan with only pointy sticks, and that's reasonable, but once they had him beaten, on the ground, and surrounded, pointy sticks would have worked just fine.

I don't think so. I mean, they had no guarantee that they could get him cornered and on the ground without guns, and once they did, the only thing keeping him there was the fact that they had 4 guns pointed as his head. If they'd had 4 pointy sticks, Ethan would have gotten up and fought his way out. (And he still might have failed, but I do think the guns helped.)
