ITA at the SG confusion. It's bad enough there is a Charlie on the island while Matthew Fox is named Jack.
I've decided 75% of TV series have a Jack as the hero and a Daniel/Danny/Dan as the sidekick. Lots of Sams there, too, of both sexes. I laughed and laughed when I started watching
Without A Trace,
and realized there were a Jack, a Danny and a Sam in the team, and Jack and Sam had a thing.

::starts writing a spec script for WaT that introduces a permanent main character named "Teal'c"::
I think its the fact the name John is so common.
I suppose so, and I do like the name. Very much so. I would just like a bit more of an originality to the different characters on all these shows, just to keep them seperate from each other. Chrichton's always been Chrichton to me, never John. Already feel the same way with Sheppard (the Atlantis one) too.
I actually hadn't remembered that Aquarium's Sheppard was a John. I was thinking of Jack O'Neil and Sheppard.
Oh, and watching
Desperate Housewives
makes me think that what
Lost
is missing is a
Scary Little Girl
.
sumi,
we already had dolls. do we really need that too?
Well, if we're not going to have
Dru. . .

If the show lasts four or five seasons, we could have one...
Heck, considering
Jack is already seeing ghosts, we might not have to wait that long. If one of the exec producers is a big Japanese horror fan, we might have our very own Sadako/Samara this season.
Wow, that is cool, le nubian. I'm getting a little bit of a "Hey, the shirts all have numbers!" Buffy S6 vibe from it, though.
A friend and I were discussing the name thing last week (someone posted a similar analysis at TWoP), and we decided it's probably just a coincidence, as most names derive from religion or nature or mean "power" in some way. Both of us (Amy, "beloved" and Tina, "river") would fit right in on the island. So would Gus ("great"), Sean ("God's gracious gift"), Daniel ("God is my judge") and Beverly ("meadow of beavers" -- hee!). That's not to say I'd rule it out, though -- JJ likes for things to have deeper meanings, and the names probably mean something. I do find it interesting that there are so many J and S names. I hadn't noticed that before.
