"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am thinking:

A) Move to Vancouver. Plus: green. Minus: no sun; too cold to prance around in bikinis.

B) Move to LA. Plus: warm and sunny. Minus: not green except in rare cases.

C) Stay there.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

D) The Carolinas or Georgia might have some green beachy locations.

Except the sun would rise on the wrong side of the island!!

Actually, interesting potential plot point.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Come again?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Come again?

Shh. Don't spoil it for her.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'd be perfectly happy for them to move the location to the Carolinas. Not that Durham would be a primo location (too many pines, not enough palms). But the South Carolina shore might be doable, and it would be within a day's drive for me.

Okay, only laugh I have had all day, and it was a good one. At Nutty's expense. (Sorry, dear.)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

is it better to cast DDK as a kinda convincing Korean native, or someone from Japan whose Korean is fluent and casual?

Well, as you know, pet peeve, but for me it would have been optimal to cast someone who was Korean and whose Korean was fluent and casual. Except for the part where that would have meant no DDK, but still.

Being someone who is periodically annoyed to have to run through the "What are you?" gamut, I would rather have more people able to see the actual race purportedly represented, so as to promote less future "They all look the same to me"'s.

But see above, re: pet peeve, so not necessarily the best resource on said issue.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Hey.

The sun rises from over the ocean, on the east coast. On the west coast, NSM. Okay, I know, Hawaii, and it is an island, and I am sure that they actually shoot on, like, the south-facing side or something.

But the whole ocean = sunrise thing is so imprinted in my brain that California, and by extension everything west of me, is Very Different.
