Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Well not right now.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee. I just knew the DH/DH joke was sitting out there, waiting patiently for its moment.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Really? I thought he was a pretty bad recapper (at least for Lost, I haven't read his recaps for any other shows).

He was new; these were his first recaps for the site. I loved his use of links, his running gags ("a bumble in the jungle!" "a grumble in the jungle!" "a fumble in the jungle!"), his dedication to recreating Shannon's crossword puzzle, the use of a table to display Michael's Good Dad Points. I didn't always agree with him, but he was both funny and creative.

Jessica, Aaron and Shack are my favorites among the lot

Shack is funny, and I haven't read much of the other two. I did like Jessica's Jack and Bobby recaps while they existed. I think Aaron may have filled in for Tru Calling once. Yeah, he did! I think it traumatized him. Besides Strega, I also love Omar. His Smallville recaps are seriously some of the funniest things on the planet.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I didn't always agree with him, but he was both funny and creative.

I thought he was funnier in the first couple of recaps, but the running gags didn't hold up well to me, and although I appreciated the Good Dad Points and the crossword puzzle and such, overall he just wasn't making me laugh.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Was is Jessica who did the X-files recaps? Those were a thing of beauty, and, for the later seasons, constitutes taking one repeatedly for the team so that others didn't have to suffer. Plus, action figure theater!

Oh! You have to check out Jessica's later-season X-Files recaps. They are gut-bustingly funny. She was funny and snarky and bitter about the cracktastic direction the show took, but she still had enormous affection for what the show used to be. Also, she used to guest-recap for Buffy, and I liked her writing a lot better than those of the regular recappers. I remember, with particular fondness, the part in her The Replacement recap that vividly telescoped her future as the builder of The Fug Blog.
