Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

There's a fun, non-spoilery article on Dom Monaghan in today's USA Today, mostly concentrating on his popularity and the fact that his flashback ep has drawn the highest ratings for the show so far.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

That makes me wonder if it's general synergy I have to thank for tripling the normal audience of shows I watch, or an influx of vast hordes of LotR fans. Either way, not looking the gift (white) horse in the mouth.

Up with the sun

In time my revulsion will fade and I'll be able to view the film for what it is. I pretty flawless piece of film making.

I saw the movie. I totally can't trust someone who would see it and make that judgement, because it's incomprehensibly dreadful.

And to me, his comments read more like "it's yucky for men to kiss other men" than "Men who kiss other men are immoral and wrong." The first is still a homophobic position, but not an especially unusual one. (I think basically every guy I went to high school with would say that.) So he just comes off as an ordinary bigot to me, which bugs, but not to the point where I want to start a boycott or whatever.

Our wings are not tired.

And here I am thinking I'm completely unimpressed by both the character and the actor. So, not changing my opinion in the least.

Let 'em be monster bait I say. I wouldn't miss the character at all.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Well, I still like the character, but yeah, my respect for the actor has taken a dive. Especially because, as Matt notes, he's played several gay/bisexual characters--nearly all his notable roles to date, with the assumed exception of Boone--and was also in a piece about Matthew Sheperd. I'd hope he'd be a little more enlightened than his comments have shown him to be.

I really didn't mean to give the impression that I was trying to start a boycott or anything (I know I'm not about to stop watching!), just expressing disappointment in the actor. But being an ordinary bigot is enough cause for me to take a dislike to someone.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

T-90 minutes.

::chomps on arm::

Usually, I'm all, "Eh. Let the TiVo get it," but this show has turned into an appointment TV in the old, pre-DVR sense of the word.

Claire better not get hurt, OR ELSE! ::shakes fist westward::

Not much to add on the Sommerlander front, except to say, 1) HA! I knew I didn't like him for a reason, 2) he gets a smidgen of sympathy from me for being forced to kiss The Beek, which, if I were an ambisexual dude, probably would put me off boy-kissing for a while.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Sorry, Vonnie. Fury told me Claire's getting eaten by a pack of starved, rabid capybaras this ep. It's sort of an Angel SO.

NOOOO! t flings self from balcony, then realizes only on the first floor

But capybaras are so cute! And the info page there says they eat grass and aquatic plants mostly (in addition to being unusually fond of eating their own droppings, which tells me they are good recyclers.) No mention of their propensity for eating wee Australian blonde puff pastries.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yesterday, I remembered Lost was on tomorrow, and I thought, "Oh fuck, tomorrow Claire's in trouble."
