Lost: OMGWTF POLAR BEAR

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Especially because of those two lines, I don't think he and Sun are actually married.

Add the fact that he was alone in the ticket line, and I think that's what we're going to find out this week.

Just tried to explain to someone that the reason I love Buffistas is because you can go there and read a conversation in which the characters for Lost are being mapped onto Watership Down.

I started it over on TWoP too. (And speaking of TWoP, have you found tivodivo yet?)

Mapping it onto the Lost cast, you could say that Jack is Hazel and Locke is Fiver. Sayid as Blackberry and Sawyer as Bigwig. That leaves Kate as... I dunno. Not Dandelion.

Consensus there was Kate = Hyzenthlay. I haven't read the book in years, dammit. Must rectify.

As for mapping characters onto the WD rabbits, I could see Charlie becoming the Dandelion equivalent.

That sounds about right. Hurley could be Strawberry.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I don't know shit about Watership Down and I decided to google th summary and I found a character analysis. What do you all think about this and its application to Lost?

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

No. I figure whoever it is wants to remain covert for some myterious reason, at this point.

le nubian, thanks for that link.

this and its application to Lost?

I think it confirms our preliminary placings of Jack/Hazel, Locke/Fiver, Sayid/Blackberry (or perhaps Sayid/Blackavar), and Sawyer/Bigwig.

It also tells us we should start calling the monster General Woundwort.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

To continue the mapping, I'll bet that Kehaar will end up being some (as yet) unfound person on the island. The French woman who left the message, perhaps?

By the by, I'm Sophia P. over at TWOP.

ita,

RE the Lost poster you found. At knit night on Friday, one of the knitters was telling me that the week before the show started, they were handing out ones with Kate on them (saying she was dangerous, etc) on the 3rd Street Promenade. I love the one of Charlie.

AND is Dom really 5'8"?

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

For the Five Man Band theorists among us:

Hero/Lead Singer: Jack
Lancer/Lead Guitarist: Sawyer
The Big Guy / (bassist or drummer): My man Hurley
The Smart Guy / (keyboardist): Locke
The Chick/ (tambourine, vocal effects): Kate

It falls apart in a major way with Kate. I'm guessing that Kate is going to be a lot more Lancer than The Chick, and that Sawyer is going to become some flavor of Major Pain in the Antagonist.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I find it humorous that the Bigwig parallel has no hair.

I think that part of the fun with Lost is going to be the way in which the characters will start to fill the typical roles but will then wind up filling other roles or subverting those expectations in other ways.

What I love about this show is that even though certain plot points within an episode might be predictable, the show as a whole is (so far) not, much like BtVS was throughout major portions of its run.

For me, the OMG!Lockewasinawheelchair!!WTF!!! reveal had a similar impact as the revelation that Angel was a vampire. A character was not who or what he seemed to be, and aside from just being surprising, the revelation itself is likely to have repercussions throughout the run of the show.

What I'm now waiting for is the Lost equivalent of Angel becoming Angelus, or Angelus snapping Jenny's neck. I'm not saying that analogous events will happen, merely that Lost has great HSQ potential of the good kind. I just hope it lives up to that potential.
