If we put all the angsty woobification aside, Sawyer has grave issues that resulted in him misleading everyone during a crisis and getting the island's only doctor embroiled in his little martyrdom psychodrama rather than actually concentrating on helping the person in desperate need of medical attention. If this is a pattern, he's going to quickly become a liability to other people's survival on the island rather than an asset. For practical reasons only tangental to the guy's sheer assholishness, Sayid would have done better to slit his throat than let him go.

While Shannon has been similarly annoying prior to this episode, she's actually been helpful rather than counterproductive whenever push came to shove.

I am with Vonnie about Locke, and I am with Matt about Sawyer.

Locke has a serious agenda for keeping folk on the island. I wonder if the monster hypnotized him or something? He didn't seem to have this much willpower on his own, back in the cubicle days.

With Sawyer's love of stirring up trouble amongst folk so he can get his masochism off, he's a liability. I'd tie him to a tree (more securely this time thanks, weren't any of you people Boy Scouts?) and torture him until he loves me again got over it.
