Well, other bands know more than three chords. Your professional bands can play up to six, sometimes seven, completely different chords.

The Buffista Book Club: the Harry Potter iteration

This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.

By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.

***SPOILER ALERT***

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Oh yeah, I have a little thing with Oryx and Crake on the side right now.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I also have a cheatin' heart, by way of The Count of Monte Cristo and Bruce Chatwin's The Songlines. But I'm getting into The Intuitionist more now, so it'll probably dominate my reading for the next week or so. Definitely interesting so far!

"...Singing their heads off, protected by the holy ghosts, flying in from the ocean, driving with their eyes closed." - Patty Griffin "Florida"

Heehee, and here I was feeling all guilty for cheating.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm a one book woman. Or serial monogamist, anyway. And sometimes I find myself continuing to read some boring and thick book that I should have put down ages before, but its sweet words keep calling me back with the promise that this time the plot will make sense and the dialogue will be interesting, it'll all be different, baby.

Sometimes you just got to back away, slowly.

Closer to topic, I no longer feel the same way about my office elevator. And I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Our wings are not tired.

Woo Hoo!! I finally got the book today. The person I bought it from sent it media mail and it took 3 weeks to get here from NY. Grrr.

Finished it.

"Bad" news is I am going to be far away from internet from 8/15 - 8/18. Well as bad as news that I'm taking the fam to the beach for a little R&R can be. Can't wait to jump in when I get back.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh no! Have a wonderful time at the beach. There may be a number of posts to catch up on upon your return.

I just started, like page 10. School starts tomorrow with the promise of a few more minutes a day to read. I loved reading the pages of accolades. Excited to dive in.

The threads here are the only ones I have any real experience with. How does this generally work? In my mind it would seem similar to our show threads where we start with our personal overall reviews then naturally start to discuss details.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Let's put off discussion until the eighteenth for the guy who picked the book and, you know, did stuff.

I appreciate that Trudy, I really do, but please don't. We've got a month, and I actually was hoping to start off quiet anyway. I look forward to wading through numerous and lengthy posts upon my return. (The more the better!)
