The Buffista Book Club: the Harry Potter iteration

This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.

By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Sometimes you just got to back away, slowly.

Closer to topic, I no longer feel the same way about my office elevator. And I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Our wings are not tired.

Woo Hoo!! I finally got the book today. The person I bought it from sent it media mail and it took 3 weeks to get here from NY. Grrr.

Finished it.

"Bad" news is I am going to be far away from internet from 8/15 - 8/18. Well as bad as news that I'm taking the fam to the beach for a little R&R can be. Can't wait to jump in when I get back.

Our wings are not tired.

Oh no! Have a wonderful time at the beach. There may be a number of posts to catch up on upon your return.

I just started, like page 10. School starts tomorrow with the promise of a few more minutes a day to read. I loved reading the pages of accolades. Excited to dive in.

The threads here are the only ones I have any real experience with. How does this generally work? In my mind it would seem similar to our show threads where we start with our personal overall reviews then naturally start to discuss details.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Let's put off discussion until the eighteenth for the guy who picked the book and, you know, did stuff.

I appreciate that Trudy, I really do, but please don't. We've got a month, and I actually was hoping to start off quiet anyway. I look forward to wading through numerous and lengthy posts upon my return. (The more the better!)

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I finished last night also. Can't wait to start discussion. 'Specially since I'm not sure I "got it"

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Last night must have been the one. I, too, finished, staying up a tad too late to do so. I can't wait to begin discussing!

I think we should put something in Press reminding people of the Sunday start date. We can also post the reading deadline for Asher Lev. Did we agree on a deadline for it yet?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I started the book two days ago and finished it last night. I told my friend cathy about it (she posts in Natter and Music sometimes) and she wants to borrow my copy so she can join in the fun.
