Well, if magic is recessive it could totally skip two - - it would mean that Dudley had married a woman who ws carrying that gene too. I wonder if it isn't a polygenic thing - - that could make the mode of heritance really tricky to figure out.
The Buffista Book Club: the Harry Potter iteration
This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.
By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.
***SPOILER ALERT***
I really thought Dudley was going to factor somewhere later in Deathly Hallows after him being nice to Harry.
You know the great thing about Harry Potter. You find HP lovers in the unlikely places. My younger, kind of jock-y, co-worker came over to talk to me about it this morning, since he finished it on his vacation. I also had a conversation with my electrician, who was working on my place as I finished it off. He was waiting for his kids to get back from holidays to read it with them, since they've read them all together.

I always wanted there to be a biology teacher at Hogwarts to explain stuff like this.
I've been thinking of magic as a recessive gene all along...
And while Ginny would probably jump Harry's bones at the first opportunity, I suspect Harry would have to get over some worries about how Ron would react
heh. I can just see the story now of Harry trying to get Ginny out of his room before Ron sees her. Ginny wouldn't want to leave, or wouldn't care about being seen, but Harry would.
What if Dudley married a witch? Like...one of the Slytherin girls?
Oh! I hadn't thought about that. DUH. Like maybe he comes over to Harry's house for a visit and runs into a witch friend of Harry's? lovely!

Dudley and Pansy Parkinson 4eVah!

You know how Harry kisses Ginny and then leads her out of the common room at the end of Chapter 24 of HBP? I doubt his virginity made it to Chapter 25.
We know that magical couples can bear non-magical offspring or barely-magical squibs. And that Muggle couples can bear magical offspring (obvious example: Hermione). But that both are the exception rather than the rule.
And the magical world seems to have ways of telling, around the age of 10 or 11, who's magical and who isn't.
Another story idea, though it wouldn't necessarily fit in Aberforth's memoirs because students aren't allowed into Hogsmeade during 1st year -- POV of ordinary Muggle-born wizard, knowing nothing about wizarding world, sees Hogwarts for the first time. Such as Harry and Hermione might have been if Ron hadn't latched on to them. (OK, Harry also had Hagrid to show him around Diagon Alley.)
A story or two set during the Hogwarts of the parents' generation
There are about eight million stories set in the Marauders' generation, if that's what you mean.

I don't. That scene in DH sure looked like it was supposed to be Their First Time.
