Wash: Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next? Zoe: Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up. Wash: I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it.

Punishingly Intricate

Hermione m ight be more of a Russert than a Kay.

OH! I totally forgot about her. Perfect. Clearly I need to rewatch my Homicide.

brillig

I've never seen Homicide, I'm just working off of every hard-boiled detective show I've ever seen.

Who decided that detectives were like eggs, to be hard-boiled?

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Hermione might be more of a Russert than a Kay.

Well, except Russert wasn't awesome enough to be Hermione, unlike Kay, who was the awesomest awesome that ever awesomed. (Err, perhaps I should think about retiring that particular word from my lexicon.)

Ron = Meldrick. Not the brightest detective on the squad, but loyal and decent and lovable, and all heart.

On an actual DH-related note, I found this fab essay on Snape whilst trawling FFlist on LJ for the book commentaries.

I know sections of HP fandom are pissed against JKR for the perceived slights to their favourite characters (some Snape-fans and Lupin-fans in particular), but compared to the ship-wank post HBP, the fandom seems relatively sane and wank-free in the wake of the last book. Or maybe I'm too cloistered and away from the main HP fandom.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was thinking that! But I couldn't explain it any better than "he'd tell that joke about the bear".

Hermione and Kay are similarly awesome, it's true. And, of course, the hair. Ginny can be Russert. I can kind of make that work in my head.

Dumbledore = G?

Dumbledore = G?

Of course. And Scrimgeour could be Barnfather.

I haven't cracked open my H:LotS DVDs for a while. Gotta rectify that.

Quick! Which fandom would work best in a cross-over with HP? Right now, I think HP/Spooks would work nicely. Kingsley could be having interesting conflicts with Adam and Harry while guarding the muggle PM, for example.

Then there is Giles in his Ripper years, possibly clashing with the Marauders? Ethan totally could be a death-eater.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They're too busy racewanking.

Ahhh, I know that's been all over the blogsphere, but I stopped thinking of it as a specific HP wank soon after it broke, so it didn't register. But yeah, the wanktasticness of it is such that petty ship wars probably pale in comparison right now.

Normally the racewanking annoys me from all ends, but this one is so onesidedly clear that I can almost not believe it's happening.

Then again, you don't need to be certified to post on the interwebs.
