This thread is a focused discussion group. Please see the first post below for the current topic and upcoming book discussions. While natter will inevitably happen, we encourage you to treat this like a virtual book club and try to keep your posts in that spirit.

By consensus, this thread is reopened specifically to discuss Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It will be closed again once that discussion has run its course.

ETA: unless you are talking about the move from a central scar to a side scar between the book illustrations and the movie. I'll have to read the first book again. I don't recall if she wrote exactly where the scar was. I do know the original illustrations were very cartoony.

Right. And Right Again about the location not being mentioned in writing, but the illustrations show it in the middle...I assumed it was in the middle...as did every kid I saw dressed up as Harry at the book release parties...just me, being cranky.

I have a question and I need to know if anyone else has the same experience.

In the movies, when Cho Chang speaks, does it throw in a disconnect?

I never imagined her with a Scottish accent. It does take me right out of the scene when she opens her mouth. The actress, however, is even prettier than I imagined the character in my head.

Ok, good. Not just me. That accent throws me off every. single. time.

Cho herself is beautiful. That accent? Just seems so out of place, kinda.

Benedict Wong, who appeared with Billy Boyd in On A Clear Day has a similar Scots accent. I spent all my time listening to how he said things, rather than what the character was saying.

Then again, I'm transfixed by Dougray Scott. Must be a thing with me.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The British covers have the scar to the side.

hip deep in pie

The British books are actually kind of inconsistent:

Chamber of Secrets is to the left: [link]

Half Blood Prince is dead centre: [link]

Philosopher's Stone is centre-ish, going left: [link]

Chamber of Secrets is the one I was looking at! (I'm re-reading the whole series now)
