The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I saw one while I was watching The Magic School Bus. I was baffled as to what they thought their target audience was.

P-C, you were watching it, and you're of draftable age.

I think they've figured out that a lot of young cannon-fodder types still watch cartoons and such-like.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

P-C, you were watching it, and you're of draftable age.

Point. But I was just kind of horrified, because I thought, "I wouldn't want my kid to see this while he's watching his fucking cartoon show." I had that instinctive shield-my-child-from-the-evils-of-the-world reaction.

It's a completely valid reaction. In fact, the more I think about it, the more horrified I am. Kids should not grow up thinking that war is a cartoon or a game.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

A friend of mine just sent an e-mail with the subject line "Neidermeyer, DEAD!" and this [link]

Turns out John Vernon (aka Dean Wormer) died. I was worried about Mark Metcalf there for a moment though.

Thrive to spite them

There's an article on MSN about casting conflicts between the Superman movie and X3. According to the story the kid who plays Iceman was cast for Jimmy Olsen but because he's contractual obligated to 2 more X movies he wasn't released -- supposedly there is a timing conflict.

Also for a similiar reason James Mardsen is no longer available to play Cyclops.

The article hinted that this is basically petty bickering between the studios because Singer went to direct Superman and left the X3 film.

Even though I'm not a fan of Mardsen I'm not sure how I feel about a replacement actor.

I'm hoping that Halle Berry stays away from X3 (she's apperantly gotten pissy over her diminished roll).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hello! Cast his twin brother!

she's apperantly gotten pissy over her diminished roll

And I am pissy about her being crap. So it's equitable.

From IMDB:

Hollywood beauty Jennifer Garner wants to quit acting to pursue other career prospects. The 32-year-old Elektra actress has hinted she will not stay in the movie-making profession for much longer - instead she wants to expand her horizons and fulfill other career goals. She says, "I want a graduate degree, I want to be a business woman, an investment banker, a writer, a pianist. I really wish I could cook. I've never had specific goals in life. I don't say, 'I'd like my next step to be this', and then write it down and go after it. Actually, I don't write anything down. I just think things to myself and they actually start to happen. So watch out."

I wonder if that'll ever happen.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I watched some old Howard Hughes newsreel footage today, and am now even more impressed with Leo's performance in The Aviator. His physicality was absolutely dead-on.

Leo was damn good in GILBERT GRAPE and THIS BOY'S LIFE, so it's nice to hear he seems to be recovering from his close encounters of the iceburg kind. I heard good things about CATCH ME IF YOU CAN both in terms of him and Speilberg. I should probably check that out at some point.
